Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, Security & Sustainable Development Policy

This policy applies to all TPC activities conducted and in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations of the country.

Article 1 – STAFF HYGIENE AND HEALTH

TPC is in constant drive to take its standards of preventive health care to be in line with the Group policies, with full consideration to preserve the health and hygiene of staff through periodic risks assessments and implementing preventive measures to ensure their fitness for duty.

Article 2 – PROMOTING A CONSTRUCTIVE SAFETY CULTURE

TPC and all its entities believe and engage in developing the safety culture which is one of the core value of the Group. This engagement comes by reinforcing the vigilance on incident reporting and analysis, implementing Total’s 12 Safety Golden Rules, and maintaining honest communications. The safety culture values are sustained through the management’s leadership in the sites, training, individual recognition, management systems, and responsive emergency plans.

Article 3 – TRANSPORT ACTIVITIES MANAGEMENT

In the management of risks related to product and personnel transportation using inland and air ways, TPC adopts the actions clearly targeting:

  • The compliance with vetting process for trucks, personnel transport and air carriers;
  • The efficiency of the transport organization in each entity;
  • The management of transporters and drivers;
  • The improvement in vehicle safety standards and the implementation of transport safety awareness campaigns.

Appropriate road transport safety policies inclusive of, but not limited to, driver’s selection and training, vehicle technical standards, driving and resting hours, on-board computers, and speed limits are implemented by each entity. Action plans are regularly reviewed to ensure continual improvement of the transport management system.

Article 4 – CONTROLLING TECHNOLOGICAL RISKS AND INTEGRITY OF ASSETS

TPC inspects and monitors all its industrial sites for technological risks and engages the identified technical safety improvements in appropriate time frames to ensure that the risks are controlled. The deployment of the asset integrity program is built on preventive maintenance management practices.

This technical process also takes in account the identification of emergency response equipment required for controlling fire, product release, and other plausible site emergencies so as to ensure adequacy, effectiveness, and readiness.

 

Article 5 – REPORTING AND TREATMENT OF ACCIDENTS/ NEAR MISSES

The reporting of all incidents including near misses and deviations is central to the safety culture values at TPC and its entities. Structured analysis of the events with significant actual and potential severity using the cause tree methods is fundamental to our safety management. The deployment of the Safety Alerts and Return on Experience are aimed to share and benefit from the lessons learnt.

Article 6 – SECURITY

The security measures deployed by TPC are aimed at complying with the Voluntary Principles on Security & Human Rights (VPSHR). Our priorities are to protect people, our assets, and data/information by conducting assessment of threats to our activities.

Article 7 – SUPPLIER ASSESSMENT AND SELECTION

Selection of contractors and suppliers is in line with fundamental purchasing principle of the Group and the M&S Branch to ensure that contractors and service providers are capable to conform to HSEQ requirements. The prevention plans are aimed at clearly defining the responsibilities and HSEQ requirements in the execution of contracts during the works within our sites.

Article 8 – ENVIRONMENTAL OBLIGATIONS

TPC and its entities implement the appropriate rules notably for managing the generation of industrial waste, protection of soil and water all while enhancing energy efficiency. Monitoring and utilizing key measures to reduce the environmental impacts during the life cycle of our facilities are pillars of our HSEQ Management Systems.

Article 9 – CONTRIBUTING TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

TPC places its societal commitment at the core of its responsibility. The approach of TPC includes initiatives in order to better integrate its activities into the societal context of the communities by developing transparent, constructive relationships with its stakeholders and by locally contributing to human, economic, and social development notably in areas such as road safety and access to energy.

Article 10 – QUALITY OF PRODUCTS & SERVICES

TPC pays constant attention to customer satisfaction by ensuring the high quality of its products and services. TPC takes benefit from the analysis of the expectations and the resolution of complaints of its customers in pursuit of customer satisfaction.
